Daniel S. Weber

Daniel S. Weber is a Counsel with the Swiss law firm Wenger & Vieli with 10+ years of experience in-house, with the regulator and in private practice. His practice focuses on financial regulatory, banking legal, compliance, enforcement and white-collar crime matters as well as on all kinds of internal, regulatory, criminal and whistleblowing investigations. Until December 2019, Daniel was the Deputy Head Investigations Switzerland at UBS. He conducted investigations across their life-cycle and managed the Swiss investigations portfolio including whistleblowing matters. Before, he was a core member of the White Collar Crime & Investigations team at the Swiss law firm Homburger. From August 2014 to January 2015, Daniel was seconded to the Enforcement Division of FINMA. Daniel studied Law at the University of St.Gallen (MLaw in 2007) and was admitted to the Bar of the Canton of Zug as an Attorney-at-Law and Civil Law Notary in 2009. In 2014, he graduated with an LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Since 2015, he serves as a part-time Prosecutor of the Swiss Military Justice in the rank of a Major where he is the Head of the Department III. He also has regular teaching assignments in the CAS programs of HWZ and ZHAW. Since 2018, he chairs the Working Group Investigations of Ethics and Compliance Switzerland, a Swiss non-profit organization. The Working Group established itself as a leading platform within the Swiss investigations community. Most recently, he featured in the Global Investigations Review 2019 as a leading in-house investigation professional.
