Green Corruption: can compliance save the day?

Green Corruption: can compliance save the day? Join the discussion in Basel on 27 November at 16:30h

The working group Anti-corruption and Anti-Bribery, with co-chairs Claudia Goetz Staehelin and Patrick Wellens, have the pleasure to invite you to their next event on “Green corruption”.

Green Corruption is a concept increasingly espoused by the conservation community and governments alike, reflecting the emerging understanding the corruption is a major driver for environmental devastation by undermining policy objectives, thwarting law enforcement efforts, distorting climate financing, and rendering conservation efforts ineffective.

The Basel Institute on Governance has, five years ago, established the Green Corruption programme, and provides technical advice to law enforcement agencies as well as capacity building and systems strengthening to environmental agencies and state owned enterprises.

Juhani Grossmann, the head of the Green Corruption programme will host a discussion for members of Ethics and Compliance Switzerland to reflect on the lessons learned over the last five years, including how Green Corruption affects Switzerland-based companies’ risk profiles and how the Green energy transition process will impact these evolving themes.

Seating is reserved to 20 participants and allocated on a first-come-first serve basis.
