Prof. Dr. Claudia Seitz is a Max Geldner-Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Law and the Center for Life Sciences Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Basel specialized on Swiss and EU public law as well as health and pharmaceutical law.
She studied law at the Universities of Freiburg in Germany, Basel and Strasbourg with study and research visits in Helsinki, Florence, Harvard, Washington and New York. She holds a PhD from the University of Basel and a Postgraduate Diploma as well as a Master degree (M.A.) from King’s College London. She graduated from the University in Freiburg and after her First and Second State Exam Claudia she was admitted to the Bar in Germany.
Before she was offered the professorship Claudia was Scientific Advisor at the Swiss Federal Administrative Court in St. Gallen, Counsel at a Swiss multinational life sciences company in Basel for many years, associate with the law firm Cleary Gottlieb in Brussels and Lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Basel. Claudia is also Attorney and Partner with the law firm Seitz & Riemer which was founded in 1999.
Claudia is a member of several academic and professional associations, including the Academic Society for Competition Law (ASCOLA), the European Association for Health Law (EAHL), Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht (Association of German, Swiss and Austrian antitrust lawyers). She has published numerous articles and books and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.
Claudia is representing the ECS Academia Stakeholder Group and is co-chairing the ECS Working Group Life Sciences together with Patrick Wellens.
