How Compliance Programs Can Create a Better Business Culture

In an interview with Wall Street Journal, former Telia Chief Compliance Officer Michaela Ahlberg discusses the company’s 2017 FCPA settlement. In 2017, the Swedish telecommunication company Telia Co. AB agreed to pay about USD 965 million for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, a U.S. antibribery law, after receiving a 25% discount off its fine.

Based on her experiences at the company, Michaela Ahlberg co-wrote with Anna Romberg, another former Telia compliance officer, the book “The Grey Zone: A Practical Guide to Corporate Conduct, Compliance and Business Ethics”.
